Unlike conventional herbs on the market, our herbs are never sulfur treated.
Extensive Testing
Each lot is tested for pesticides, heavy metals, and other contaminants when appropriate. We only accept results that meet strict standards. We have the most rigorous testing standard in the industry requiring a none-detected result for all pesticides tested.
USDA Certified Organic
Whenever possible, we prioritize certified organic farm partners. Not only that, we actively work with partner growers to support the transition toward organic cultivation and to expand responsible farming practices rooted in soil health and long-term sustainability.
Our Goals for Establishing Clear Source Herbs

- Increase the use of, demand for, and awareness around organic and pesticide-free culinary herbs and foods.
- Reduce the use of chemical pesticides by encouraging growers to gravitate towards organic and sustainable growing practices.
Spring Wind has always been at the forefront of advocating for growing and using pesticide-free and organic Chinese herbs. But, with a relatively small practitioner market generating limited demand, we realized the difficulty of encouraging many herb growers in Asia to transition to organic growing methods and reducing or eliminating their use of chemical pesticides. The niche practitioner market size also makes it difficult for Spring Wind to find new growing partners who are willing to shift to sustainable growing methods. We realize that for change to take place at a larger scale, product demand and awareness is needed at a much larger scale. That is one of our main motivations for starting the Clear Source brand. By opening the market for the general public to purchase pesticide-free and organic food-grade herbs, we hope that Clear Source can become one of the driving forces to increase awareness and demand for herbs that are sustainably and organically grown. While we realize that we are a very small player in the scope of the entire herb industry, we strongly believe that change can only happen by starting with ourselves. So, here we are.
Our Fight Against Chemical Pesticides and Other Contaminants
We only work with growers that are either certified organic or are willing to work with us to gravitate towards a pesticide-free solution. We lot-test all our herbs and if a lot comes up positive with the smallest amount of pesticide residue, we will reject that lot and work with the grower to find out the issue and correct the next harvest, or look for a new grower if this continues to happen.
For this reason, you might sometimes find that we are out of stock of a certain herb. We feel this is the only way to ensure our customers receive the purist herbs they would expect from Clear Source Herbs (And Spring Wind).
